We talked to Martine (co-owner Archive Store) about her favorite interior brands, trends and dream holidays.
How did you come up with the concept of Archive Store?
When I was pregnant with our first baby boy Abel, I bought a lot of my favorite baby items abroad, mostly in Paris. You could find me behind my laptop where I was searching on websites and blogs for something different. Anna had the same and we found out that it was so hard to find the brands and feeling we were looking for… We kept dreaming about our own store and in 2016 we started to follow our dreams and changed it into real plans and started Archive Store; home of the little gatherer. An Archive filled with items gathered from all over the world, selected and curated by us.

What are your favorite interior brands and why?
I love to mix and match old and new furniture and to work with natural, sustainable materials. I like the combination of an old wooden floor with metal window frames and a linen soft sofa. An old marble sink on a new cabinet. If I should give my favorite interior addresses, I would say Merci in Paris for sofa’s, at De Ru in Amsterdam you can find the most beautiful paint of Farrow and Ball, old materials as doors, marble sinks and tiles you can find at Piet Jonker or Oude Bouwmaterialen in Eemnes. For kids furniture Archive Store has everything I wish for and I could fill both kids room with our collection.
What are your top 3 beauty tips for pregnant women?
Spoil yourself with a pregnancy massage once in a while, give your self a belly oil from a nice organic brand, nourish your body with extra healthy food and go to bed when you’re tired. Oh, and buy yourself a nice designer bag you always wanted (and the shoes).
How would you describe your interior style?
Mix and match, beautiful natural materials, some nice paintings on the wall (and most of the time the floor is covered by 96 little toy cars from our boys…
If you could take your dream vacation, where would you go and what would you do?
We just had our dream vacation in Sri Lanka last May. We made the best memories and I loved being together 24/7 and to go on adventures with our little boys. I can think of many more ultimate vacations… Road tripping through Australia, exploring Argentina, driving through Italy (our next destination will be Italy; Puglia and Tuscany) or to explore the Nordic countries during long summer nights.
Summer’s here, what are your plans with the kids?
I love summer in Amsterdam when the weather is great. Amsterdam at it’s best: on a warm summer evening sailing through the canals with kids and friends and to watch all other boats and the beautiful canal houses… On weekends -when I don’t have to work- we often go to the beach. Tulum Tulum (Noordwijk) is my new favorite beach club. In a few weeks, we will have some really nice events in our Archive Store garden for kids. We want to offer cooking lessons, art class, and some sports like yoga, skateboarding and boot camp. If your kid wants to join, please visit our event page to register.

What’s your favorite restaurant with kids?
I love to go out for dinner with our kids, but it always sounds more romantic than in reality… But, Morgan & Mees in Amsterdam is always a good idea. The interior is very inspiring, they have a lovely terrace where the kids can play around and they always arrange a nice meal for the kids.
